"Greg, Kele and the team at Hoku Water Sports should be your first and only stop if you want to learn to surf or build your skills while visiting Poipu. As an instructor, Kele in particular is enthusiastic, highly skilled and super patient. He knows when to push you beyond your current skillset, and he knows when to dial it back and help build your confidence in the water. Don't worry, you will never surf like him. But watching him effortlessly catch and ride waves while also improving your own skills is almost as good."

"We had such a blast surfing! Ke’lei was the BEST instructor. My kids’ ages were 15,12,11, and 7. They all had such a great time that we came back a few days later for another impromptu lesson. I highly recommend!"

"Kele was amazing!! I had gotten the dates wrong on our family of four’s reservation and he offered to stay after his last lesson so we could get a lesson the day we were there. He was super friendly and gave very helpful advice. My three teenagers- even the non-athletic one were able to get up on the board the first or second try and were soon riding the waves all the way in to the beach! Even myself, a mom of 49, was able to get up and ride some waves in with his helpful input!! So glad we took lessons here, we all had an amazing time."

"If there was ever a time to give surfing a try, the waves at Poipu Beach on South Shore Kauai is a good spot! The first 15 minutes were spent on land in learning the technique of how to ride a wave, the rest of the time was spent on the waters putting that technique to use. The waves were pretty choppy the day we were out there, and my shoulders/arms were killing me by the end of it, but worth every moment for the fun and different experience!"
